A History Spanning Millennia

Situated upon the unceded traditional territory of the Skwxwú7mesh Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation, the word Kia’palano means “beautiful river” in the Skwxwú7mesh language. Part of Capilano’s connection to their story involves the tradition of placing totem (story) poles on the grounds at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.
