High on Hemp

The first suspension bridge, constructed back in 1889, was made out of hemp rope and cedar planks.

Span of Steel

In 1956 new owner Rae Mitchell replaced the old cables after many years of faithful service. The job was accomplished over a span of just five days using thick steel cables anchored to 13 tons of concrete at each end.

The Inside Scoop

It's true, the current owner of the park started working here at age eight selling ice cream. Eventually, Nancy Stibbard bought the park from her father and made this world-loved attraction what it is today.
