Fun Fact:
The current Suspension Bridge, built in 1956
by Rae Mitchell, was completed in only 5 days. Massive concrete blocks each
weighing 13 tons securely anchor each end of the bridge. That's equivalent to four
elephants on each side!
The Capilano River provides Greater Vancouver with one-third of its entire fresh-water supply, and is also a fish bearing river. The Capilano Suspension Bridge park sits 300 feet above the river, on both sides of the canyon. This panoramic image was taken in Capilano's Pioneer Garden, where you will enjoy spectacular views of Grouse Mountain, Capilano River, and of course, the Capilano Suspension Bridge.
