The Trading Post Gift Store was originally built in 1911 as a Tea House, to offer refreshment to the increasing number of visitors. It was built using cedar timbers stacked one on top of the other and contains enough wood to build 10 tea houses! During the 1950's, Bridge owner Rae Mitchell added a retail component during the summer months. Eventually the demand for retail took over and it was renamed Capilano Trading Post. It houses 6,000 square feet of souvenir and gift items and an unparalleled selection of fine Canadian art, handcrafts and clothing.
