On October 27th, we hosted Emily & Rene’s beautiful wedding in the Canyon Lookout and Canyon House Banquet Room. Despite a considerably blustery day, the fun-loving couple along with their family and friends had a wonderful time. Justin Morrison of Juna Photography (www.junaphotography.com) did a fantastic job of showcasing the natural beauty of the park and the playfulness of the lovely couple. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Justin, and being a part of Emily & Rene’s wedding. I feel so lucky to work with such fun couples in this stunning environment. It is weddings such as Emily & Rene’s that demonstrate that all seasons are beautiful here, not just the hot and sunny ones.

In total, 12
businesses from across Canada were recognized.

In addition to this award in 2012, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park also won the BC Chapter of American Marketing Association’s “2012 Marketer of the Year” award, as well as the Consulting Engineers of British Columbia’s Award of Excellence for technical and innovative engineering with regards to CLIFFWALK.

Treetops Adventure takes guests 100 feet into the mid-story of a thriving coastal rainforest. Seasonal events like Raptors Ridge birds of prey in the summer and Canyon Lights in December enhance the many experiences at this year-round destination.

If there is one thing I have learned from the last few years, it’s that our guests love attention to detail. So whether it is decorating for our Fall season or our Canyon Lights event, I always try to put those finishing touches on everything. In the spirit of Autumn, I thought I would share our decorating strategy with you! This may not be fair because it’s easier to be inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us.

Step 1: Pick a Theme

Capilano looks its best when rustically decorated. Think “outdoor cabin in the woods” and you have an idea of our goal.

Step 2: Gather your Supplies

In my own home that means collecting fall leaves and picking up some gourds from the nearest grocery store. At Capilano it means ordering 500 pumpkins, 30 bales of hay and pulling a multitude of scarecrows out of storage.

Step 3: Base Layer

For us this means hay bales and antiques! We have a large collection of sap buckets, barrels, large antique metal milk jugs and butter boxes. I start by going around the park and filling in the bare spots with a selection of antiques. Most of these can be exposed to the elements, however we try to keep the hay bales out of the rain since they are impossibly heavy to move when wet.

Step 4: Add Colour

Once the antiques and hay bales are in place it is time for pumpkins, leaves and of course… SCARECROWS! Our leaves have to endure Vancouver rain and the Maintenance Team’s leafblowers, so I stick to fabric or plastic leaves that match our natural setting and won’t be “cleaned up” every morning by our diligent staff!

That’s how Capilano gets decorated for Fall!

Personally, I think Fall is one of the best seasons to visit. In the cooler mornings the canyon is flooded with fog and you can cross the bridge in the mist. In the evening the lamps shine on 500 cheerful pumpkins. Whenever you choose to visit, you’re sure to enjoy Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.

(Vancouver, British Columbia) – The BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association (BCAMA) has named Capilano Suspension Bridge Park as the winner of the coveted “Marketer of the Year” award for 2012. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is being recognized for successfully developing and executing an integrated campaign for the opening of Cliffwalk. “Marketer of the Year” is the BCAMA’s annual award program that
recognizes the most outstanding integrated marketing strategy in the province of BC.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park was chosen as the 42nd “Marketer of the Year” for its progressive campaign to launch the opening of Cliffwalk, which featured media relations, promotion, sales initiatives, online and social media, radio and outdoor advertising.

“It is truly an honour to receive this prestigious award, and we thank the BCAMA for this recognition. Building a new multi‐million dollar attraction in the tourism climate of the past several years was a bold move,” said Nancy Stibbard, Owner & CEO for Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. “Marketing Cliffwalk HAD to be a success! I am so pleased with the results generated by the exceptional work of our Sales & Marketing Team.”

“We are thrilled to receive the Marketer of the Year Award,” said Sue Kaffka, VP of Sales & Marketing for Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. “For the dreamers, designers and builders of Cliffwalk, there is no greater success than the hundreds of thousands of visitors who are experiencing Cliffwalk everyday as a result of our integrated marketing efforts and the help of Spring Advertising and Hill & Knowlton Strategies.”

The BCAMA will present the award to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park at the 42nd Annual Marketer of the Year Gala at the Westin Bayshore Hotel on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. For event details and ticket information, please visit www.bcama.com

About Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
Appreciate nature from three breathtaking perspectives ‐ the world famous Capilano Suspension Bridge, the seven bridges of Treetops Adventure and the new Cliffwalk, a heart‐stopping cliffside journey high above Capilano River.

The 450 foot long, 230 foot high Capilano Suspension Bridge has thrilled visitors since 1889. While the wobbly bridge and stunning location have become an iconic Vancouver landmark, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park offers an all‐encompassing BC experience. History, culture and nature are presented in unique and thrilling ways with knowledgeable staff and interpretive signage providing as much or as little information as guests want. Treetops Adventure takes guests 100 feet into the mid‐story of a thriving coastal
rainforest. The new Cliffwalk follows a granite precipice along Capilano River through lush rainforest vegetation. Seasonal events like Raptors Ridge birds of prey in the summer and Canyon Lights in December enhance the many experiences at this year‐round destination.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is part of the Capilano Group of Companies (CGC), which comprises retail, lodge and attraction businesses including Moraine Lake Lodge and Cathedral Mountain Lodge near Banff, Alberta.
